Casa Uses Social and Emotional Learning to Inspire Greatness
With over 38 years’ experience in the community, Casa knows the power of Emotional Intelligence and considers it the key to creating significant and sustainable social and cultural change.
Casa’s core mission is to provide evidence-based education that teaches children, teens, and adults how to build social and emotional skills and sustain healthy relationships at home, at school, at work, and within the community, ultimately leading to a reduction in abuse, bullying, meanness, and violence.
How Do We Improve Emotional Intelligence?
Social and Emotional Learning in Schools
Training and education is absolutely vital to the prevention of many social problems. By integrating Emotional Intelligence (EQ) into schools, we help students develop the relationship and problem solving skills they need to be successful in school, at home, and eventually in the workplace. Students learn self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making through the use of evidence-based programs that work.
Bullying Prevention
The Power of YOU , is an amazingly effective bullying prevention program. The success of the program hinges on the social and emotional skills that students learn, and on the relationships that are built between students and teachers, older students and younger students, staff members, schools and parents, parents and children, and schools and community partners.
Abuse and Violence Prevention
Since its inception in 1973, Casa provided advocacy services to victims of sexual abuse and sexual assault. Casa now focuses entirely on prevention education, including No More Secrets: Kids Talk, a sexual abuse awareness/prevention for children ages 4-12, and POWER, a teen dating violence and date rape prevention for adolescents ages 13-18. |
